We are an authorized Flowmaster and Magnaflow distributor, with an A+ BBB rating and commonly receive five star reviews for our customer service and quality workmanship. But what a lot of people don't know is that here at Mad Hatter Mufflers and Brakes we are not just your typical muffler and brakes shop. We are well versed in many other areas of Automobile restoration, modification, and customization. We have 41 years of experience in the auto repair industry.
After years of restoring, customizing, and modifying cars and pickup trucks for friends, family, and ourselves we have started offering that service to customers. Yes we started out as just a muffler and brakes shop but the knowledge and experience we have attained building and racing late model oval track cars to building street legal long travel prerunner trucks and show worthy pro-street hot rods we have a wealth of knowledge and experience to build you the car you have envisioned. We have in the past and are fully capable of most any conversions, modification, or restoration on your vehicle, from power disc brake conversions to independent front suspension kits.
We do rear four link suspension with coil over, lowering kits, lift kits, just about any modification that's been done we are familiar with. For example my good friend Steve brought us a bare Alston chassis designed to fit under a Camaro that is a uni-body car, and a 70's Chevelle that was a stripped down hollow shell. That is originally a perimeter chassis car we modified to suit the Chevelle body. We then put a narrowed 9" ford rear end with four link suspension under it, and put a 502 roller mk motor and turbo 400 transmission. We made and installed the rear tubs and flat finished the firewall, after we installed the 4 wheel Willwood disc brakes. After he had Tino do the interior and he painted it Blue metallic with SS strips he then sold the car for $52,000.
Recently we restored a 1948 Chevy Stylemaster Coupe for a customer named Sam. The car had sat under a tree in his yard for 20 years. It came to us on a tow truck with flat tires and not running. We started by cleaning the engine bay up for a cleaner space to work. We converted the Chevy to a fire wall mounted master booster instead of the under the cab style from the factory. We also updated the brakes to disc brakes and re-plumbed all new brakes lines.
We then did dual exhaust since that is our specialty. The car had already had a small block Chevy engine put in at some point but had not been ran. Sam was not aware we offered such service so he had us continue with the project to get it running and driving. We went through the process of checking everything initially before startup such as points, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, oil change, radiator install, alternator, battery, wires, etc.
Once it ran we detailed the engine compartment and installed a tall floor shifter and fuel cell. In less than six months the owner Sam was able to drive his project home without a worry. There was tons more done to the car but you get the idea. These are just two examples of the many projects we have completed for various customers. Take the time to come down and talk with us about your projects and ideas for your vehicles and see if it's something we can help you with.
High Flow Catalytic Converters
We all want our machines to run properly and one aspect of proper automotive design is emission control. Cars run on gas and unfortunately gas is not the cleanest thing for the environment. That is why you need a catalytic converter. Catalytic converters reduce engine emissions and are a necessary part for any car that wishes to pass an emission inspection.
